The Cosmopolitan
25 Maitland Street
The Cosmopolitan is a unique white precast concrete building of 19 stories at Maitland Street and Yonge Street (literally in the heart of the gay village). It was completed in 1988 by the premier builder, Bramalea (now bankrupt). Each suite is different from the other (with one exception), and they vary from 630sqft one bedroom loft suites to 1250 sqft two bedroom corner suites. Prices are exceptionally low, ranging from $250 per square foot to approximately $300 per square foot. Some one bedroom suites have balconies. The building houses 168 suites. Condo fees are approximately 56¢ per sqft inclusive. Facilities include a fun rooftop outdoor pool with sundeck, party room, guest suite, weight room, laundry room (though all suites have ensuite laundry), billiard room, library and superb full-time concierge. At these prices it’s hard to imagine getting more imaginative space.
